Windows Vista update with surprise
A colleague of mine 17er Notebook Hewlett Packard (HP) with Windows Vista. Yesterday he added a
07/07/2008 downloaded from Microsoft recommended security updates and installs . The usual message "The update was successfully installed" appears.
But the laptop will not boot after. A black screen and nothing else.
I thought this is not a problem simply press the F8 key at startup (as in XP) and then comes to the menu page with about 12 different options.
The most important:
- repair Windows
- Safe Mode
- Last Known Good Configuration
- Debug mode
- Windows normally start
etc. We have tried all the options, unfortunately without success. We always had the same picture.
Once a message appeared with the following statement: fatal system error could have been triggered by a hardware problem or an installed application.
A Windows Update is a software. The message applies to virtually forever, but will not help.
What's Next? In most cases this will help most, a provision of the system with the supplied recovery disc.
The solution with the HP notebook.
There is a recovery CD, but this is not needed in most cases. When you start
HP notebooks is simply to press the F11 key .
A menu with four options. The two most important are:
- restore to an earlier date with Microsoft Recovery
- Reset to factory defaults.
We could the notebook out at 16 return in March 2008 with no data loss. A Bravo to HP.
On 03/16/2008, the latest software installed, and for nearly three months ago, Windows Vista does not create a new restore point. Consequently, from this and must be made to himself.
